BDBA Finals Postponed Till Tomorrow!!! PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 26 October 2013 00:35

In a closely contested junior exhibition game that began the night’s activities, Team “Truckers” defeated Team “SJC” 80-76 in OT.  Immediately following the conclusion of the junior game, a downpour rendered the Bird’s Isle court unsuitable for play.  As a consequence, the Finals 2 game of the BDBA Firms Tournament 2013 will be postponed until Friday, 1 November, by which time, it is hoped, meteorological conditions will be more favourable.

Elite Marathon Held in Orange Walk!!! PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 October 2013 23:01

This past weekend the Belize Basketball Federation held a marathon at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Complex to launch the up-coming Elite Tournament.   The “Gaspar Vega Elite Marathon” was made possible by the generosity of the Hon. Gaspar Vega, with additional financial assistance from Belize Telemedia Ltd.

The various national associations were invited to send teams selected for this particular marathon; these will not necessarily be the associations’ teams in the Elite Tournament scheduled for 2014.  In addition to the immediate benefits to participants and spectators, the objectives of the marathon included the following:

· to encourage associations in their efforts to raise awareness of the Elite Tournament

· to provide the Federation with a better understanding of the logical challenges the Elite Tournament will involve

· to help associations evaluate their level of preparedness for the Elite Tournament

The Marathon had a “knock-out” format.  LiveStats could not, unfortunately, be compiled for Game 1, in which the eventual champions, Team “Stann Creek”, defeated Team “Belize District” 71-65.  Files for the remaining games are attached.

Enquiries concerning the Elite Tournament should be directed to Mr Paul Thompson, BBF President.
